Today was Round 6 of the Ulster Cyclocross series, this was also my home race as my club VC Glendale hosted the race and what a job they did. Definitely the best course of the year so far especially the finish straight. Well with everyone cheering my name and the support of my home club I really wanted to win this one for everyone but that didn’t quite go to plan as my biggest rival from leinster had travelled up to ride the race, this was only the 2nd time we have had a race together this year.
I got a good start and was leading for the 1st part of lap 1 but then on the off camber banks I slipped. I quickly went to get up still in the lead as I had a little gap but my bike was caught in the fence, then the rider in 3rd had also over took me but i caught him up again pretty fast. Rian who was leading then kept his gap, I was closing in on him but another crash on the last lap made the gap grow back out to him
Now time to focus on National League Rd 1 on saturday in Westport
