Great day today at round 4 of the National cross country points series in Bree Hill, Wexford. What an amazing venue. The weather was class and the trails rode fantastically.
I was excited to get racing as i really enjoyed the course when we practiced it on Saturday evening. The race started fast with a big fire road climb to split things up. After that we went into a single track climb before the descent. I was sitting on the wheel of 3rd riding comfortably. I stayed in the position and had planned to attack into the final descent because i new if i was down the first he wouldn’t be able to get passed me. Sadly there wasn’t a bell rang on the last lap so i didn’t know that it was the last lap. Disappointed that i came in 4th when i probably would have finished in 3rd but i’m happy with how i rode and excited to see if i can hold on to keep 3rd in the overall series with only one round remaining.
A huge thanks goes out to Bree MTB Club for organising this event, definitely the best venue so far this year. Also a huge thanks to my sponsors for the continued support. I’m now looking forward to racing a crit this Tuesday and then also getting some big training in before the final RD of the NPS and XC National Championships, after that i will shift focus to the road for the Ulster 3 day international youth tour and the road national championships.
