Today was the 1st round of the XC National Points Series in The Leadmines, Ards. I was really looking forward to this race I had was hoping for a good result so I could get a solid start to the series.

The conditions were really tough as it was raining really heavily. It was a fast starts along the wide gravel section and I got up to 3rd before the single-track started. After that there was a steep hill and I kept pushing up that to the top then into the steep technical downhill section. As the rider in 2nd fell of on the first lap so I was then in second. I held 2nd for lap and a half until on the 2nd last lap I slipped on one of the rocky climbs and and 3rd caught me and got passed me. I was chasing him and was closing on but it was super hard to catch him because there was so many lapped riders and they wouldn’t move over. I’m super happy to finish on the podium and to get a solid start to the series.

I’m looking forward to the 2nd round of the series in Killarney. Which should be really good.
