Cross Clonmel

The cross season is underway. After a solid ride last week to start the National series i was ready for the UCI support race at Cross Clonmel.

The course was running was the smooth as it has in previous years. It was a dry and sunny day for the race. I got a good start and took the lead. I created a small gap on the first lap and held it but as we came into the lap2 my gap to 2nd place slipped and we were together battling for the win. I then sat on the wheel for the next lap. With 2 laps to go I had a slight mistake and this cost me to get gapped from the leader. I spent the last 2 laps trying to close the gap but I couldn’t and had to settle for 2nd.

Not an ideal race for me with a few mistakes and not a great feeling on the day but we move forward and I am excited for the next block of training approaching. My next race will be Round2 of the National series on a brand new course im Galway in 2 weeks time.
