The World Cup in Dublin was one of my main goals for the 24/25 cyclocross season, last year I came super close finishing 2nd so this year I really wanted that win.
With the new changes added to the course reducing the amount of lint straight sections in an attempt to make the racing more compact was very good and made the course a lot more enjoyable. It was also nice to have some of the top u16s from England come over for the race which allowed me to see how I would compete against the international competition.
I got a clean start getting away fast and taking the lead, getting to the first passing of the pits my crew told me I had a 5 second gap so I pushed on trying to extent that gap. For the next 2 laps the gap between me and 2nd stayed around 7-10seconds and the gap wasn’t growing much for me. However, once the 3rd lap started my gap was growing and I rode a really fast and clean lap, coming onto the final lap I had a gap of around 20 seconds so I just had to ride a smooth final lap to bring the win home. I rode a mistake free last lap and took the win.
I am super happy with the feeling today I felt strong and left everything out on the course. Now time to keep training away towards my next goals. Thanks everybody for all the cheers and support on course today!!!
