Irish XC NPS Rd2

It was time to get back on the MTB for the 2nd round of the National Points Series. I was filled with confidence after my result at the last round and I was excited to see what I could do today. I knew this was going to be a hard race after racing this course last year. It’s a super hilly course but also has a very hard descent with lots of rocky features.

I got a good start and was in 3rd wheel at the top of the climb before the first trail started. Behind the 2 favourites, the rider who won Rd1 and rider who is our national champ and was 3rd at Rd1. They were flying down the trail and they gapped me. I couldn’t sit with the pace that they were holding and it allowed them to get a gap on me. I was then fighting solo for 3rd for 2 laps. I was riding strong and knew I needed to keep pushing as mistakes can happen and that could ride me right back into the race. The rider in 2nd got a puncture and I caught him putting me into p2. I rode the last lap strong and finished the race in 2nd. I’m satisfied with the result but I felt like I had made far too many mistakes out there today and that I could definitely improve for the next time out.

I’m excited to keep training for the next weeks coming up and can’t wait for the next few races. I’ve been really enjoying the season so far and can’t wait to see my form keep progressing
