It was nice to get some road racing after spending the last month on the MTB. A brilliant day in Mallusk on the Belgian Kermesse style course hosted by my home club VC Glendale. A great show was put on by everybody.
In my race I attacked on the hill about half way around the course. I split the group to only a few of us and we stayed away for the hole race. the group wasn’t working very well which was a shame but we still didn’t get caught. I attacked again for the next 2 laps on the climb but I couldn’t shake anyone and it came down to a sprint. I got the jump on my competitors but i got overtaken about 20meters before the line and had to settle for 2nd.
Next weekend I will be back for Rd4 of the MTB NPS series in Wicklow
