Irish National CX Series Rd 1

So today was the 1st round of the 1st ever national cyclocross league held in Westport buy Westport Covey Wheelers.

The course was really good fun. It was quite fast paced but there was lots of punchy climbs and also a steep bank which had to be ran. I also enjoy the terminal descents this is where I was gaining time on there riders

The race started and I got a good start leading from the gun. Me and Rìan got away at the start and after the 1st lap we had a minute gap back to 3rd place. Half way through this lap I was the stronger rider and after multiple attacks from me i had gapped him.

I had gapped him before this a few times out of corners but he had caught up again. This time I had cracked him and grown my advantage out to around 20 seconds. I held this for the last to laps to take a great win.

I felt really strong today and I’m ready for another good battle next Saturday at Rd 2 of the National series in Tippeary then back home for the Ulster CX league in Ballymena where I will be looking to wrap up the series
