This weekend was the 2nd round of the National Points Series in Fossa, Killarney. After the 5 hour drive to county kerry we arrived and practiced the course on Saturday. The course was really hilly and lots of tight corners so it was very hard to carry your speed. But I enjoyed it the course. It was also a super long lap taking over 15 minutes every lap.
Sunday was race day and I was ready to go. After practice yesterday I knew what tyre pressure to run so I could get the best grip around the greasy corners. We had to complete 2 laps of the full course for the race.
I was gridded in 3rd after finishing 3rd in the first round so I got a good start. 1st and 2nd got a slight gap on me over the first grass section but for the 1st lap I was able to hold a gap of around 10-15 seconds but on the 2nd lap he increased the gap to around 35 seconds. I’m super happy with how I rode and I felt really strong. I also felt I was riding the technical bits and jumps really well. I’m happy to finish 3rd again and stay 3rd overall in the series.
Huge thanks to Killarney Cycling Club for running the event and also to my sponsors as racing and traveling wouldn’t be possible without them.
