Today was the first round of the Cycling Ulster Youth Academy League at Bishopscourt Racing circuit in County Down. After not having the best legs last week at Ras Mhaigh-eo i didn’t really know what to expect today i just had one target which was to ride strong and follow as many attacks as I could.
First off was the TT in the morning. The wind made the course very hard with a massive block headwind on the back side of the circuit. I got off to a good start getting down low and spinning like mad down the tailwind section. As a hit the headwind i stayed low and just grinded out the biggest gear to the line. I don’t know where i finished in the TT but I felt pretty good.
Next up was the afternoon road race. The wind hadn’t changed so I knew that it was going to be hard. there was a few attacks on the first lap but no one got away. After that there was a lot of games played for the next half a lap or so before a big attack went and the rider in it syatyed away solo to the line for the win. 1 rider tried to bridge across and he didn’t close the gap so he was solo for 2nd. I was back in the group behind with around 4 people when 2 of them attacked and I couldn’t close the gap. After that there was just be and one rider left in the group and he beet me on the line for 5th. Happy to end up with 6th and felt a lot better than last week.
