Island Wheelers Youth Race

Today was the Island Wheelers road race and time trail. It was a great circuit that suited me very well. The TT was basically a hill climb which was a 2 mile course from the bottom of the hill to the top. It started out as a drag then got steeper the whole way up until just before the end it flattened out a wee bit. In the TT i managed 2nd place only a few seconds off the winner.

After a few hours to recover and recon the road race course it was time for action. We rolled out from the car park to the bottom off the hill where the flag was dropped and the race began. The group stayed together the first time up the climb, i was riding on the from not attacking but just trying to hurt the other riders. Once we got over the top of the hill it was downhill back to the bottom again.  People tried to attack on the descent but nobody got away. We then had a flat section before we were back to the bottom of the climb again and the finish was at the top. As we hit the climb I started to ride hard on the front winding it up, with about 500 meters to go and the climb was on the last really steep  part I launched a attack which I managed to hold off the other riders and take the win solo.

Super happy to have a good ride in the road race and take the win , little more tt practice needed but where getting there. Not long now till the Nationals.
